Mark 14: 12 On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread, when it was customary to sacrifice the Passover lamb, Jesus’ disciples asked him, “Where do you want us to go and make preparations for you to eat the Passover?”
13 So he sent two of his disciples, telling them, “Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him. 14 Say to the owner of the house he enters, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is my guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’ 15 He will show you a large room upstairs, furnished and ready. Make preparations for us there.”
16 The disciples left, went into the city and found things just as Jesus had told them. So they prepared the Passover.
Jesus gives some very specific instructions to these two disciples about how to go prepare the Passover. I tend to be a details person when it comes to making preparations. I want lots of information and lists to check off. Jesus essentially sends two of his followers to find a man with a jar of water.
I love that they listen to Jesus, trust his voice, and go. They go into the city because Jesus said so. I desire to listen to what God is telling me and obediently follow his instructions. I can imagine these men meeting someone on the road who ask, "What are you up to?" And upon hearing that they're going into the city to find a man with water, asking, "Why?" Then the two disciples reply, "because Jesus said so."
May I have that kind of confidence in my mission and trust in what God says. When people ask why I'm doing something I want it to be because Jesus said so.
