I just finished reading this book about giving called "Plastic Donuts." The title stems from a story the author tells of when his little girl (just a few years old) brings a gift to him, a gift that mattered to her, a thoughtful and special gift from her heart to his, a gift that delighted him and taught him about how our giving delights the heart of our Father.. the gift was a plastic donut.
As I was reading yesterday he references the story we just read in Mark 12, and a few other examples of Jesus teaching about giving. He spend a chapter talking about what he calls "Ability Giving - Christ's Standard."
Jeff Anderson writes, "Even though she was poor, the widow had a benchmark for a superior gift -- it was her ability." p.77
I highly recommend this short little book!
