Hills and Valley

"On the mountains I will bow my life to the One who set me there
In the valley I will lift my eyes to the One who sees me there
When I'm standing on the mountain I didn't get there on my own
When I'm walking through the valley I know I am not alone
You're God of the hills and valleys, hills and valleys
God of the hills and valleys
And I am not alone"

Prayer & Praise

We're getting together this Friday night at 6:30 for a time of spontaneous prayer & praise. We'll gather at the church (by the fireplace) and enjoy worshipping God and listening to the Holy Spirit together. Come as you are! Wear casual clothes and you'll fit right in. One of our small groups is hosting this gathering and will provide drinks and some snacks and desserts.

I'm praying that God prepares hearts and that we come together Friday evening ready to worship and experience more of Him!

Hope to see you there, Bethany

Spiritual Gifts

This Sunday we are in week 4 of our Discovery Series, and we are talking about how to serve and be a part of the mission here at a church of New Hope. I think it's helpful to reflect and seek out how God has made you by looking for your God-given gifts.

This is one resource I've used before to take a closer look at how God has made me and to listen to how he wants to use me to serve with the Church and in his Kingdom:

You can find more in-depth notes on Discovery Week 4 here:

The Case for Christ

Caleb and I saw this movie last weekend. I read the book 7 or 8 years ago and loved it! The movie was really great and makes me want to pick up the book again to read all the details of Lee Strobel's research into Christ and the resurrection.

Have you seen the movie or read the book? What did you think?

Love Does

It's been a while since I've read it, but it remains one of my favorite books:  Love Does by Bob Goff.

If you haven't read this, I encourage you to!

Here are some quotes from his Twitter account that have encouraged me lately.

Consuming Fire

I love what Jesus accomplished on the cross and through the resurrection. It is finished. He isn't on the cross anymore. What do you need to leave on the cross?

What needs to go on the "burn pile"? Jesus has taken care of it so you can walk forward on the path of healing. But it's up to each of us to give it up, to give our burdens, struggles, hurts, habits, and hangups to God. Will you accept what he's offering you? Will you give up what you're holding on to so you can more forward with Jesus?

Do you need to ask someone for help on that journey? God will provide people or a group of people. I've seen him working here at a church of New Hope when people are willing to walk with Jesus, together.

I hope  you can create some time the week to let the reality of Christ's resurrection sink in!

This song speaks so powerful to my heart. What a celebration!

"Forever He is glorified
Forever He is lifted high
Forever He is risen
He is alive, He is alive!"

He is alive! Amen! - Bethany

Fired Up!

Imagine Jesus as soon as he takes off the burial cloth from his face in the tomb. He sits on the edge of the stone where he had been laying for 3 days, he looks at the angels in the tomb with him with a little grin. The one to his left hands him a robe and he puts it on. The angel to his right says, "You ready?" and our lord looks at him and says, "let’s do it". The angel rolls the stone away and Jesus steps out. He takes a deep breath of fresh air. He looks to the heavens and just laughs a little. He is even amazed at what is about to go down. He is what I call ... "FIRED UP !"

-Trey Fisher

He Is Alive!

Mark 16:6 - but the angel said, “Don’t be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Look, this is where they laid his body. 7 Now go and tell

You are looking in the wrong place.  Jesus is not in a tomb.  He is risen.  That changes everything.  While the cross is where my sins are nailed, while my forgiveness is found in His death, it is the resurrection that brings me new life.

Eph 1:19 - I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power 20 that raised Christ from the dead

Grace and Forgivness

I'm still amazed at the hard hearts of the rulers and Pharisees. I also find it interesting who shows up at the burial. No apostles? Would that be me?  I wonder.  And yet...the apostles went on to spread the gospel to the world.  Acts 4:29  My failures does not mean it's over.  There is grace and forgiveness.

I'm living in His grace and forgiveness.

We sang this song last week by Matt Redman - Your Grace Finds Me

Breathing in your grace.

Breathing out your praise.
